I have a white denuda magnolia that we planted 6 years ago in our Miramar garden. It didn’t flower at all last year and has just a few buds this year. What can I do to help it? What sort of thing is good to plant under it? At the moment there is lavender and wèeds.

Hi Lisa, You can underplant with Helleborus or winter colour (Pansies, Pollies etc) definitely remove the weeds, and I don’t think Lavenders will survive in this environment. They flower on last years wood, so to encourage more new growth I would recommend a good mulch (Kolush Manukau mulch) around the tree.
Thanks the Palmers Team
