Hi my orange tree which was lovely and green looking just starting dropping all its leaves. It is covered in blossom but now no leaves. It is has been in a pot for a good number of years always produces good fruit and never done this before. could it be that the weather is so changeable that has caused this.

Hi Audrey, Something dramatic has happened to the plant to cause it to drop all of it’s leaves over a small period, some of the possibilities: it has been sprayed accidently with a weed killer, it has been sitting in water for period of time, or has completely dried out (quite possible considering the plant has been in the pot for a long time and it would be reasonably root bound.) It is possible that the plant has Lemon tree borer, but then the flowers should have dropped as well. I would suggest to repot the plant remove 50% of the root ball, also prune the top by 50%, replant in fresh mix good quality tub mix, it will either go one way or the other!

Thanks the Palmers Team
