How long does it normally take for the foliage on a lily bulb to die back? I planted the Oriental Lily ‘Hotspot’ in August last year and it flowered at the beginning of February. Since then, the foliage has remained green, with only slight browning on the very edge of the leaves. I reduced watering since the lily flowered. Stores are now starting to stock new seasons lillies and I would like the bulb to flower again in summer. Should I cut the foliage back even though it is still green?

Your bulb will die off if you tie the leaves in a knot above the ground level. This traditional method will then force the leaves to die off and feed the bulb again.
