I’ve just planted some Phormium ‘chocomint’ flaxes in outdoor planter boxes. What is the best fertiliser to use, and how often?

Phormium ‘Chocomint’ is a stunning variety. Flax’s are tough little plants and you can kill them with kindness. It is best to add a slow release or controlled release fertlilser when you are first planting them. Try Osmocote. Once they are established, after another 6 months or so you can just top up with a general garden fertliser, but don’t over do it.
