Hi I have 12 Stephens Island pittosporum plants which have been planted since Xmas. They are in Central Otago. They are only a couple of feet high.
BUT the leaves are all starting to fall off!!!
Why?

Hi Brigid, Planting at this time of the year is not ideal, to be successful you would need to maintain deep waterings at regular intervals (i.e. deep water once a week) Falling leaves is a sign of stress, at this time of the year that would normally mean not enough water, especially in the central Otago soils. I would give them some deep waterings as well as a good mulch around the plant to maintain a more even temperature and retain moisture and fingers crossed they come away again in autumn. Thanks the Palmers Team
