Hi Brigid, Planting at this time of the year is not ideal, to be successful you would need to maintain deep waterings at regular intervals (i.e. deep water once a week) Falling leaves is a sign of stress, at this time of the year that would normally mean not enough water, especially in the central Otago soils. I would give them some deep waterings as well as a good mulch around the plant to maintain a more even temperature and retain moisture and fingers crossed they come away again in autumn. Thanks the Palmers Team
