is this a good time to transplant trees from a pot to into the ground? Ex. Avocado or Pohutukawa trees.

Hi Dale,
Yes, autumn is a great time to transplant your trees into the ground as they will get plenty of moisture over the winter months. However, do not leave it too late as avocados do not like the cooler temps too much and can die from frost so make sure you have some frost protection sorted or you plant in a frost free area.
Spring is another great time for planting but I try to avoid planting in summer where possible.
