Hi there, I’m about to have 2 pohutukawa tree stumps ground out and I would like to plant olive trees in the same spot as one of the stumps. The olive trees are a decent size (approx. 2m tall) and I will mix in some soil/garden mix with the saw dust/chips that are left behind but I’m just wondering if this will be enough for the trees to survive/cope with? Would appreciate your advice.
Thanking you in advance,
Jody Davies

Hi Jody, I would suggest not to use any sawdust or chips for planting, as a mulch it would be ok. Use a mixture of topsoil and garden mix. Plant quite high too as the soil will subside and drag the plant down. Make sure the olives are well staked.
Thanks the Palmers Team
