I recently purchased a Black Doris plum tree from Palmers at Bethlehem. I have it planted but now am thinking that it may need a pollinator. Is that the case? If it is, what can I use? Does it have to be another plum?

Hi Michelle, Lots of confusing information out there (in all sort of sources), some Plums are self fertile, some are partial and some need a pollinator, all very confusing. They seem to give the best/most fruit when planted with a cross pollinator (even if they are self fertile) A cross pollinator for Black Doris would be Billington, Duffs Early Jewel, Elephant heart and Santa Rosa so plenty to choose from.
Thanks the Palmers Team
