We have a medium sized tree which hadn’t flowered until this year with a few flowers . Do they need to be fertilised and will it effect it if we we’re to prune it. Thanks

Hi Christine,

Yes, overall tree health can affect how well your tree flowers. Add plenty of organic matter and compost to the soil. Add sheep pellets around the base and dig them in in spring and summer. Using a liquid fertiliser such as Tui Organic Seaweed Plant tonic can help give your plant a boost.

Pruning should not inhibit any flowering next season.

All the best
