Bought a 40ltr bag of potting mix. When put into 4 10ltr buckets only fills 3 and one half buckets. Also same thing with a second bag so it seems that it is not a one off. In total by my vision we are only getting 35ltrs. I was sold, as is printed on the bag, 40ltrs and that is what I should receive. Waiting with interest your reply

Hi David, Thank you for your enquiry, the volume of the bags are all calculated (by dimensions etc.) to ensure they are able to hold at least 40L. these then are filled, by computer controlled machinery, once again to ensure at least a 40L volume is achieved. These get intermittently checked to ensure the stated volume is being delivered. The biggest problem is in the settling of the potting mix (or any mix) after packaging, (ie during transport and for example a bag being at the bottom of the pallet). Often it is best to “roll” the bags several times prior to opening, to ensure the mix has “loosened” up. Never less, if you can let us know what the brand of the mix is, we can go back to the manufacturer and provide them with the feedback. Thanks the Palmers Team
