Hi Gatherer, It would be a “borderline” houseplant. The leaves would need to be kept clean of dust at all times (weekly with a damp cloth) Browning of the leaves is normally a sign of too much water or conversely too little water, you should be able to identify which one relatively easily. If the browning is on the leaves (rather than on the edges) this could be sun burn if the plant is sitting behind glass, in this case remove it from direct sunlight (it would need a highlight position).
