When should a plum tree be pruned? And when is it too late in the year? I think it is too late for this year as can see new growth on it. My husband feels it is not too late to prune the tree. thanks for your help, Adrianna

Hi Adrianna,

The best time to prune plums is in summer or autumn, if you prune in winter this can spread the spores of silver leaf.

Use sharp secateurs and use wound paint to seal the cuts.
