When is the best time to prune/feed outdoor hibiscus to promote flowering throughout the summer? Mine tend to flower only in late summer and are still blooming (July)! I live in Auckland.

Hibiscus do flower for long periods into winter in warmer climates like Auckland. They are generally at their best in late summer/autumn and will continue unless slowed by cold conditions. Prune in early spring after the worst of the rains have gone. Then feed with a good Citrus Fertiliser to promote healthy growth in early summer followed by those spectacular flowers! Plenty of sunshine and a sheltered warm spot is ideal.
