What is the best way to prune summer and autumn flowering raspberries, and when should thus be done?

An annual prune after harvest is necessary, to remove the fruited canes and in autumn to thin out the new cane so that there are 14 – 20 strong canes per metre remaining. Remove the fruited canes at ground level so that there aren’t any stubs that may become diseased.
