I planted a purple ake ake a year ago. It is now about 1 metre high and it has suddenly died. Would it be to wet for it. I know they tolerate dry conditions, but where it is its quite damp. I have a green one next to it and that has been there for 2 years and is doing really well.

Hi Lyn, Yes most likely it will be wet, when it’s relatively newly planted the rain tends to soak more easily into the mix the plant came into, as a consequence it can create issues with plants that do not cope well with high moisture content. When you plant a new plant, it is advisable to plant a little higher to ensure excess water runs away!
