I have an area around my raised vege garden that I would like to put into pebbles/ stones…..This would be replacing grass. Does this need to be sprayed first, or can 5 cm just be taken and then a matting material be placed before the stones are put down ?

Hi Bryce
Thanks for your question. It is ideal to spray first. Kiwicare have an organic week killer spray that works really well called Organic Weed Control. Allow the weeds to die first as some weeds have very long tap roots which would penetrate deeper than 5cm. Once browned off then lay matting material or excavate to the level you wish and then place stones down. Lay stones to a depth of 8cm to help reduce weeds being able to get a ‘hold’ in soil.
Happy gardening
