Kia Ora. My husband and I have a new house but our garden is just full of flax. We’d like to make room instead for our child to play and to grow other plants and vegetables but removing the flax is not going well- mainly because the roots are too tough for us to dig out. Any advice that would help us?
Thank you.

Hi Ellie,
I have had to remove flax many times in the past and it is not easy, they can be tough. Unfortunately, the only way I know of removing them is to dig them out with spades. Dig around the base of them to loosen the roots and eventually they will be able to be lifted. Alternatively, you could hire a digger which would make the process easier.
Good Luck.
