I have a Rhododenren shrub which has a lovely flower, but has been “crowded” out by other trees surrounding it. We have removed the other trees, but the shrub now doesn’t have a very good shape. After flowering, can this shrub be pruned down to a foot or so, off the ground, and will it recover? Or, do I need to leave some green on the branches?

Some green does need to be left on the plant – i would suggest that you do the pruning / reshaping in stages to give it time to recover. Have a look at the How To Guides on growing Rhododendron for more tips. They are available on the website or instore.
