My rose bushes are damaged with wind burn etc after storm should I cut them back?

Hi Jill,

I think if the roses have windburn it would be a good idea to cut them back, they must not be aesthetically pleasing to you at the moment and it can only benefit and help the plant start growing some healthy foliage again. The main pruning time for roses is in July – August so there is still about 4 months between now and then so it might be worth trying to tidy them up.

It is a good time of year to feed your roses with rose fertiliser or top up the garden beds with compost and sheep pellets to replenish the nutrients in the soil.
