I am the son of an old orchardist from Oratia and I would dearly love to grow an Oratia Beauty apple tree in my yard in Sydney
Is there any way I can legally purchase a tree in NZ for shipment to Australia

Hi Peter, This will be all dependent on the Australia importing rules, it is no problem taking it out of a country it is taking it into a country that is the problem. I have no knowledge of what Australia’s limitations are, but of memory I don’t think you will have any chance whatsoever, sorry.
