Have had this lovely fine indoor fern for a number of years and it needs to be repotted and refreshed. Have noted signs of brown scale and smaller white scale on the older stalks. How can I deal with this problem without killing the whole plant? Please help!!

Hi Del, Being a fine fern you have to be very careful with any spray as they tend to burn the fine foliage. With a fine cloth and a mixture of water and Enspray oil you can gently wipe of the scale insects, while you are repotting you can mix in some Neem granules into the mix this will also help prevent insects, a regular application of an organic liquid fertiliser will also help keep the plant healthy which help prevent insects attacking the plant. Any houseplant would love a rain shower to wash away dust and dirt while we are getting a little rain right now! Remember not to leave it outside as sun will very quickly burn any plant left outside after the shower of rain. Thanks the Palmers Team
