Occasionally I find that the branches on my Apple trees have longitudinal splitting of the bark. If left unattended, fluffy white mould will grow inside the lesson.
Could you please tell me how I can prevent the splitting from occuring.

Hi Phil, There’s not much you can do regarding the splitting of the bark, it tends to occur when the tree is growing quicker that what the bark can expand. The white fluffy stuff you will need to spray for as it hides an aphid. You will need to spray with Lime sulphur and then follow this up with an Enspary oil possible repeat this twice over the next 2 months
