Hi
My question is two fold
I would like to grow a number of camellias clipped into standards. Then under plant with black mondo grass
What varieties of camellias would suit this best? I want to keep them to about 1.5m
Also, as camellias need an acid soil would that be OK for the mondo grass?

Hi Ron,
Camellias are a great plant to clip into standards, I actually do quite a bit of that sort of work myself. You can clip any camellia into standards, but for me, I find the Sasanqua varieties more versatile. They tend to be a bit more sun tolerant and grow faster.
Some varieties you may like:
Early Pearly
Cinnamon Cindy
Apple Blossom
Sweet Jane
Fairy Blush
The mondo grass will not be a problem planted with the camellias.
