The last 2 years we have had sticky sap on our courtyard/furniture from our overhead grape vine on a pergola. Do you know what causes this & how to stop it happening? Also we get lots of large leaves with little fruit, do I need to fertilize plants? (we have 2 red & 2 white varieties).

I am guessing that the sticky sap is the result of insect damage, so a regular spray with insecticide should help. If the vines are too leafy they may not be getting enough sun to set or develop the grapes. Corrective pruning and thinning each year should help.
