I bought a swan plant for the Monarch butterflies and it grew very rapidly has been absolutely inundated with caterpillars so much so that they have demolished every last leaf on it! Is it too late to plant another one? I am wondering what will happen to the caterpillars now they have lost their abundant food supply

Sometimes you need to manage the size of the population, in order to prevent this happening… perhaps you could do that now, to give the plant a chance to recover. I doubt that there will be any available for sale now, but do check with your local store. If you’re in Auckland, you could contact the butterfly house in West Lynn Gardens, to see if they’d like some? The caterpillars will unfortunately die without adequate food.
