My Camilia has developed thick fleshy leaves near the end of the branches that are about 3 times the normal size. It is about 10 years old. I did prune it back a bit after flowering. Otherwise it looks quite healthy.

Pruning should help yes and you did the right thing by pruning it after flowering. So I would suggest you review the plant again to see how the Camellia responds.
