Hi Bruce, Yes you can remove the bottom leaves that are starting to look off. As far as the brown marks, this is most likely what we call blossom end rot which is a sign of Calcium deficiency, which is hard to rectify at this time of the season. Ensure your soil is not too acidic and do not overwater. Some customers have suggested Compost Tea (biofeed compost tea). Thanks the Palmers Team
