An old Meyer which fruits well. For the first time lemons which look perfect have a black dot on outside which is bigger inside. Is this canker. If so what can I do to save our beloved tree. Thanks

Hi Jeanette
Without seeing the fruit it is hard to confirm if this is a fungal problem (but very unlikely to be cancer). We think it is damage of the Guava moth fruit fly (if you are Hamilton North). Is the dot a possible entry/exit point? At this time of the year we would recommend spraying with Enspray Oil and Free Flow Copper spray both are certified organic sprays and will control/prevent any insect or fungal problems. If it is Guava moth you will need to use guava moth traps from October onwards.
Thanks, the Palmers team
