Weeds

Hi I have just moved into a property where the garden was loved once upon a time.
Some of the flower beds (even though they are extremely over grown) still have some surprises in like Strawberries and mint kale and silver beet.
Would it be best to take out what I want to rescue and start again or to try and weed by hand around them.
