Could you please tell me what you would recommend I spray the plants in my glasshouse with, they are getting covered in tiny white fly. Initially I sprayed with a baking soda recipe, but that didn’t look at it, then I tried a bought spray that had white fly on the label. This hasn’t worked either. I am growing tomatoes, capsicums and have just pulled out the cucumbers. The tomatoes are the worst plants infested with this little blighter but the fruit aren’t affected at all – the plants are pumping out tomatoes. Thanks for your help.

Hi Jane, White fly have a very quick life cycle, so when you have sprayed and they are still flying about it is possible the next generation already out and about! Never the less, we do not recommend spraying fruit and vege for white fly. Best prevention is to use organic liquid fertilisers like seaweed, compost tea, and fish fertilisers, this way you improve the plants health (the reason why insects attack plants is often due to the plant being under stress) over time the white fly will get less and less (white fly do not do a huge amount of damage to the plant)

Thanks the Palmers Team
