I have 25 yr old flowering cherry (?Shirotae) which always used to give very profuse bloom. Last two years blossom has been sparse but tree still looks healthy. Nb I have never fertilized it.
Any advice or is it just getting old?

Hi Chris, If the tree is looking healthy there is little that can be done. They flower best when we have a good cold winter, as our winters do not seem to be as cold as they used to be most likely this will have an effect on the flowering of the cherry trees. (eg if your garden is more sheltered than previously it might not get that winter chill either) Don’t believe age has anything to do with it especially if the tree is healthy!
