My white Daphne which is in a huge container has put on a lot of growth since flowering but has gone a bit floppy and producing yellow leaves. I do give it a lot of water (most days) and I have just given a good feed with liquid fish fertiliser as I wonder if this may be the problem?

Hi Joanna,

I don’t think the liquid fish fertiliser will be the problem. My initial thoughts turned to perhaps overwatering as you said you water most days.

Daphnes really do hate having wet feet so drainage is a must with Daphnes. Does the pot have sufficient drainage holes or is it sitting in a saucer that prevents runoff?

As much as we do need to water our container plants often over the warmer months just be careful not to overwater. Put your finger into the soil and have a check if it is still wet underneath as sometimes things appear dry when they are not.

Daphne does best when it will receive morning sun but is protected from harsh afternoon sun.
