I have a terrace bed supported by an ugly concrete wall. I am looking for a plant to crawl across the concrete edge and trail down the wall a bit. The plant needs to have attractive evergreen foliage, able to withstand very strong southerly winds sometimes. The terrace bed gets a lot of sun, so the plant base will get full sun, but any leaves that trail down the wall will be in a south-facing shady area. The bed is irrigated. The main problem is very strong wind sometimes.

I have a problem with a rhodendron, it used to flower, but doesn’t, the buds open up and are green.
I sprayed it for thrips, the plant looks healthy, maybe a little rust. It gets afternoon sun , and I think this might be half the problem..
Can u plse advise what I can do to rectify the problem

Hi, last year my lemon tree only produced a few lemons.
I have noticed that there are small black and white spots on the leaves.
Have I neglected it? or is it salvageable.

Also what can I use to bring it back to life.
My second question is how do you treat plum trees. I have two that produce lovely plums but I don’t really know how to take care of it.

Thank you
Colleen.

I am looking for a climbing plant with attractive evergreen foliage, pink or purple flowers in summer, able to grow on a shady South facing wall, and withstand strong winds from the south sometimes. Its a frost-free area.

I’m new to growing roses. I planted three rose bushes and two climbers in June. When should I feed the roses with Blood and Bone and how often? And also how do I stop grass and weed growing around it? I’ve been pulling them out, but that’s a lot of effort and time consuming, is there anything I can get to stop the grass/weed?

I have just bought a blueberry plant with no clue as to how & where to plant it. I’m also planning to buy & plant a mandarin tree, passion fruit & feijoa trees. Could you tell me the best brands, times to plant & any other tips to help them survive at the hands of a novice gardener.

I have a sick looking bougainvillea, the leaves are yellowing and small. It is growing in poor soil in front of tanalised retaining posts for a few years, previously a good display. I have given it blood and bone, rooster booster and recently thrive and a product called vege grow purchased from Rogers, but not all at once. My last bougainvillea took sick and died In a similar position. Could it be poisoning from the retaining posts?
If so, does it mean all planting there would not thrive?
I recently planted spanish, ficus pimula and chinocloa there, will they survive?
Please advise thank you!

Hi,
I purchased two gardenia’s off you recently. And was wondering how regularly I should be feeding them, and with what… I’m guessing with sulphate of potash, but would like more accurate knowledge.

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi, I bought a double grafted plum from you and have a strange situation. The main plant is growing well having flowered and now has a few fruit on it which is good for its first season, however the graft is still dormant and shows no sign of wanting to bud etc. It looks dead but after clipping the tip, I found it still very green and well and truly alive, it just has forgotten spring I think. Is there a way to force the graft to come out of dormancy or will it grow next year which is a shame as I would have lost a whole year of this tree developing. I no longer have the receipt so a exchange is not an option. Thanks

Hi there,
My frangipani plant got some kind of bug/ fungus problem over winter, (It was an indoor plant over winter and we keep it in a large pot) I then purchased an oil spray from Palmers Kelston to spray on it to kill it. Within 3 days all the leaves fell off and within a few weeks we noticed the main stems started to almost “rot” as in they got very soft and almost felt hollow? We were then told to cut them back about 1- 1.5 inches from where the stems had gone soft (which we have done).
I went to re-pot on last weekend and noticed again the plant looks like it is going hollow and soft further down from where we cut it again.. Please can you let me know how i can save our plant? Or what I can do to assist it in growing again? Many thanks

My daughter is about to have her first baby and rather than send flowers I thought it would be different to send her a rose bush to mark the birth. Do you have any rose bushes with a suitable name? Also could you deliver to her address which is in Fitzroy, New Plymouth?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards from UK
