Our Coprosma in the courtyard have not wintered well due to all the rain, I live in North West Auckland. They grew very bushy (so not a lot of light could get through) and tall and then lots of leaves fell off so some of the trees were nearly bare. I noticed the leaves were going yellow and had black spots. I have now trimmed them down and cut off lots of branches. Do you know what the problem with the leaves is and is there hope for these. How do we care for these trees?

I have a very healthy horse, who gets fed very good food every day, and consequently the output is almost as good as the input. I have been mucking out the paddocks recently, with the hope of selling some of the manure ($3 per large horse-food bag), but wonder whether I am better to leave it in the paddock and harrow it back into the ground? The soil is sandy (in Papamoa, Mt Maunganui). What would you suggest? If anyone has proven methods, or wants to purchase some manure, please contact me on 021 285 6609. Jan

Hello,

We have an old lemon, an orange, a grapefruit and a mandarin tree, planted in a row, two meters or so apart. Last year, some of our lemons had these black castings under the skin. This year, almost all the lemons succumbed to this pest. Then I found them in our grapefruits and oranges, not to the same extent. The culprit is a little worm. I have taken a photo that I could send.

I have looked it up, to try and identify the pest, but am not sure whether it is a worm of the coddling moth, false coddling moth, naval orange, or something else. I would be very grateful for some advice.

Best regards,

Ioana

The fruit on my lemon tree are covered in wart like lumps and bumps. They are so ugly, we don’t know if they’re safe to eat.

I need advice on growing miniature bamboo plants:
First I need to know which miniature bamboo plants can be planted in MEDIUM sized pots – outside – as well as how to care for them.
Secondly I need to know if these plants are readily available at the Palmers outlet at Greville Road on the North Shore in Auckland.
Many thanx
