I would be grateful for some advice on pruning fig trees please. My trees are about 4 years old and this is the second year that I have been lucky enough to pick fruit, however I am unable to reach the fruit on the higher branches.

Your advice would be gratefully received.

Thank you

Kind regards

Carol

Hi there,

I have an area below a vine wall that I need filled in as a sort of border area. I just want all the same plant that can grow into a border/ ground cover. We have lomandra grass around (our background is tropical themed) but I was wanting something a bit more thicker and flaxier leaves. This spots gets full afternoon sun from about midday.

Thank you.

Any suggestions would help

I have a phebalium hedge running the full length on one side of my property in Upper Hutt. The height is about 2.4 meters.
It has been planted alongside a wooden fence which is about 1.6 meters high.
I would like to top this hedge and bring it down to about the top of the fence.
The hedge is at least 40 years old.
When is the best time to trim it.
Thank you

I have had a good crop of Summer Delight Potatoes with seed purchased from Palmers but when cut in half they have a light brown ring around the inside and a Jelly like /clear strip down the middle. Some cook up ok others will not soften and remain hard. What is the cause of this please.

Hi, I was wondering if there are any New Zealand native plants (that aren’t ferns) that can be used as indoor plants?
Thanks!

What are some good plants for under planting under established hedges? The hedges are currently hiding a poor quality fence that can’t be replaced at the moment but the gaps under the hedge are fairly large so need something that will fill the space to hide the fence.

Hi,

I have a garden between our driveway and the house, it faces the west and doesn’t get morning sun. I would like to plant it with lavender, will it be suitable and if so which lavender would you recommend. The garden is about 14m long and about 800 wide, and I want to fill it with lavender.

Could you tell me how many plants I would need, and how much they are.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks Julie

I need to know how to correctly prune my grape that has had it’s first year. Once leaves drop off, is there any photos or videos to show what to do. So many conflicting ways.

Thanks

We have a swimming pool that has a garden area on one side. The area, which is about 12 meters x 1.5 has a few quite large Queen palm trees and mostly green planting. For example Clivias, grasses, a couple of sago palms etc. All green but what I feel it needs is a real splash of colour. Any suggestions as to what might really “liven” it up.

Thank you.

I have grown sunflowers for the first time this year and am amazed at the wonderful results. Now that they are almost over when do I cut them down and what to do with the dinner plate size heads?
I would be grateful for any tips or suggestions regarding sunflowers. I think the seeds were annuals.
Many thanks.

When I spray with Conqueror Oil in conjunction with other sprays, do I need the usual Sprayfix as well, or does the Oil repel the weather? I am spraying roses and other flowers in the home garden.
