Hybridberry Thornless Jewel produces large, firm conical rich dark red/black berries. Old fashioned boysenberry flavour, juicy and sweet. A boysenberry cross. A very tasty screening plant, on the side of a deck or a fence or try it in a pillar-rose frame as a focal point in the garden or container.
Plant in an open sunny position, will tolerate wind exposure, but not salt. Plant in soil rich in organic matter, that is well draining. Mulch well in winter to protect the roots and water regularly during dry periods. Remove old or damaged canes in winter.
Chilling hours are needed to set fruit, however if you're able to grow apples locally, the conditions will be equally suited to bramble berries. Harvest in November and December.
