Watercress is a semi-aquatic, low growing plant with a tangy, peppery taste to the leaves, and juicy hollow stems. Superb in soup, adds piquant flavour to salads, stews and stir-fries, and an essential ingredient for a classic boil-up.
Sow into very moist pots or trays of Yates Black Magic Seed Raising Mix, and transplant into pots when 3-4cm tall. Place the pots into a larger container, and fill with water almost to the top of the pots. Watercress prefers fresh water, so change the water every few days. Grow in sun or semi-shade. Cut stems regularly to promote new growth. Watercress can be grown in moist garden soil, but has a less bitter taste if grown in a tub of water.
Germination 5 - 7 days | Maturity 8 weeks
