The leaves can be picked a few at a time whenever they are required. Lettuce Red and Green Salad Bowl Mixed crops throughout Summer even in hot, dry weather and hardly ever bolts. Lettuce prefers a sunny position and fairly rich soil. The combination of red and green plants make an attractive and useful edging to the vegetable plot or even the flower garden. The packets contain equal quantities of each colour.
Sow at two weekly intervals all year rounds as required for a continuous supply. Sprinkle thinly, 1.5cm deep, in rows 20-25cm apart. Keep watered and weed free. Pick the leaves when they are young for the best flavour.
