Magnolia Fairy Cream are bushy trees with rich evergreen foliage and masses of beautiful fragrant cream flowers along the length of each stem during Spring. Fairy Magnolias are happy growing in full sun through to part shade. They'll grow in any soil but do prefer well worked crumbling soils. Avoid heavy, waterlogged locations. Fairy Magnolias are ideal small specimen trees especially where a show-stopper is needed, but space is limited. And since they are naturally bushy, they also make fabulous flower-smothered hedges: to hide or mark a boundary. Fairy Magnolias have an upright, bushy growth habit, maturing to form a tall bush or small tree 3-4m high, and 1½-2m wide. If spacing a row of plants to form a dense hedge, set them one metre apart. Trim top and sides to produce the hedge height and width you are looking for. Fairy Magnolias perform best when watered moderately over summer. They will handle drier conditions once established. In the garden, apply general fertiliser after the spring flower-show: in containers use a slow release fertiliser in spring & autumn.
