Shallots are the connoisseurs' pickled onion. The small, globe shaped shallots have a mild onion flavour with a hint of garlic. The bulbs may be used in place of onion in many recipes and the leaves can be cut and used like chives or spring onions.
After Harvest: Pickling, salads, soups and casseroles.

Planting: 5-10cm apart.
